Wruhantojati - UI/UX Designer

I'm Wruhantojati, a UI/UX designer based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

For me, great design has never been just about aesthetics—it's about understanding people, their struggles, and designing solutions that genuinely improve their lives. Over the last 3 years I've designed for problems that matter: from helping 10,000+ users shift from burning waste to recycling, to supporting families through grief with compassionate digital services.

My Story

How I Got Here

2020

Mechatronics Engineering

Graduated with a degree in Mechatronics. This is where I learned to think in systems and got my first taste of industrial design, sparking an interest in how people interact with technology.

2023

UX Design Bootcamp

Made the leap into design by completing an intensive UX bootcamp. This is where I formally learned the principles of human-centered design, user research, and prototyping.

2023

Waste Management Project

Applied my skills to a real-world problem, designing a system to help a community shift from burning waste to recycling. It was my first major project with measurable social impact.

2024

Funeral Services App

Took on the challenge of designing for a highly sensitive context. This project taught me the importance of empathy and compassion in design, creating a digital service to support grieving families.

Now

Open to New Opportunities

Seeking a full-time UI/UX design role where I can continue to solve complex problems and create meaningful experiences.

How I Approach Design

My Design Philosophy

I don't design for "users"—I design for people. Real people with complicated lives, limited time, and very real problems.

This means:

  • Starting with empathy, but validating with data: I spend time understanding what people need, then use research and testing to make sure I'm solving the right problems.
  • Thinking in systems, not just screens: My engineering background taught me that everything connects. A small change in one part can ripple through the entire experience.
  • Designing for constraints, not ideal scenarios: Real projects have budgets, deadlines, and technical limitations. Good design works within reality, not despite it.
  • Prioritizing behavior change over interface polish: Beautiful interfaces matter, but changing how 10,000 people manage waste matters more.

My Core Strengths

Beyond Design

A Glimpse Into My World

Cycling Yogyakarta

Exploring the city's streets, finding new perspectives—literally and figuratively.

Coffee & Contemplation

Slowing down with a good brew, sketching ideas, and observing human interaction.

Constant Curiosity

Experimenting with new design tools, plugins, and prototyping techniques to stay sharp.

I'm convinced that being a good designer means being curious about life beyond screens. Every conversation, ride, or quiet moment shapes how I see problems and craft solutions.
